Staff Changes and Challenges

by February 28th, 2009 Patrick Greer

We are seeing some changes here at SpinningSilk Multimedia.  Heather Greer, also known as @coderheatherj ( now @harmonyheatherj ) on Twitter, has made the decision to leave SpinningSilk Multimedia and go back to teaching private piano and voice, as well as being available for performances like weddings and parties.

In the past few years, Heather has experienced much grief through deaths in the family, and is dealing with some health issues that necessitate her stepping back as co-owner of this company. I ask that you as customers, potential customers, and fellow business people to be patient with us during this transition time.

We currently have a little bit of a backlog, and some projects (such as the new version of our web site) have been moved to the back burner while Patrick assumes added responsibilities during this time.  In addition to his usual duties, Patrick will be the primary contact person for SpinningSilk Multimedia, as well as managing the the web site projects more directly.

Patrick is currently in the process of evaluating the needs and developing the future vision of SpinningSilk Multimedia, including podcasts and classes offered by the company. If you are interested in being part of the future of SpinningSilk Multimedia, please contact us.

Patrick – What type of positions are you hiring for? I’m in the market for a new job but don’t know what it is you are looking for exactly. Let me know. I have a background in management, marketing, training and development, and was also the bookkeeper for my husband’s business for 17 years. Email me if you’re interested or we can talk at the next SMC club meeting.

Well currently I’m in the stage of figuring it out. Not that we didn’t have well defined roles but there was a bit of a different dynamic since Heather is also my wife. Some of the roles Heather had were but not limited to, customer service, web coding (mainly in Drupal with a programming specialty in PHP), Marketing/Sales and coordinated the development of manuals for customers as well as shared training with myself) Until we outsourced our book keeping to an outside firm she has still been the main contact person for that. Eventually I would like to build the company up to a team by the end of 2009 so until I get my thoughts together and work on a plan all I can currently say is stay tuned but with that being said I would love to start talking to people to get an idea of the talent out there. Hope to talk to you soon.
