Our Business Niche
by July 19th, 2007 Patrick GreerI have been asked the past few weeks what makes SpinningSilk Multimedia different from our perceived competition. Several people have asked how we compete among other “web design companies”. First of all web design and development is not the only thing we do. Web development is a major source of our income but we also provide a variety of services including print design, audio production and marketing consulting.
In the realm of web development we use what is known as open source software, not only is the software free but the fact it’s open gives us a greater ability to get “under the hood” and to tap into a great support system. We we have the tool to produce impressive design with Adobe Flash we feel it’s a greater service to our customers and their clients to produce highly usable sites. You will also see us talking about the advantages of a technology know as RSS. RSS is the backbone of blog and podcasts but is also useful for broadcasting events, new products and other new and updated content. We honestly believe a web site will be crippled in this day and age if it doesn’t have RSS build in. If fact I have quite a few speaking engagements with local business groups to drive this point home.
In a recent meeting we discussed our niche and a good way to communicate it to others. We agreed that we provide, “personable marketing solutions” that help you build great relationship through various media sources. That being said we do not specialize i mass marketing items like magazines, ad campaigns and the like but we can provide any graphics, photos and copy you may need for those jobs.
We are strong advocates of consistent branding therefore we strongly urge our clients to use us to either develop all of their marketing materials from business cards to web sites and more so potential clients will know who you are and what you are about no matter if they are looking at print or electronic media.
It’s also important to realize that we can’t be everything to everybody. Of course we are willing to talk to any potential clients but we do have experience with several types of clients, we understand their language and special needs. First of all we are committed to small business and organizations. Even when we grow to become a large corporation with multiple locations we will still be committed to providing our special kind of service to the small business person. If fact we are working on a “secret software project” that will greatly help this all important niche in the economy.
We currently have experience with the following types of clients;
1.) Home Improvement and Maintenance companies
2.) Christian Ministries like churches and denominational organizations
3.) Small, Independent e-commerce stores
4. ) Business and Personal Coaches that specialize in helping an individual or business go to the the next level
It’s interesting to note that almost of our clientele are also in the business of building up people, businesses or structures or services to support them.
Finally we have a committed workflow that goes beyond design. We have organization, security and cutting edge sharing technologies in our process.
We thought it would get a good idea to post this to give our visitors, clients an potential clients a better idea of who we are and what we do and to answer those questions we have been asked in public.
