Marketing your blog and web site for free
by December 29th, 2007 Patrick GreerAt the close of the year you will find all kind of web site and blog tell you about the “best of” for the year closing. One of the sites I frequently visit and subscribe to is Problogger.net . One a recent post the author posed the question, What was your most popular post in 2007? I left a response myself that my most popular post (In terms of comments and visits) was one called, The Power of real conversation in marketing your business. Interestingly enough I read what some others stated as their most popular post and they seem to have a fairly similar theme to my most popular post. One was called, Top Bloggers Reveal How To Build Traffic Offline Without Spending A Dime and the other one I felt needed a mention was Top 10 Ways to Use Facebook to Promote Your Business for Free.
What free resources are you taking advantage of to promote your business or organization? SpinningSilk Multimedia has a Facebook group of which you can be a fan as well as a Twitter account we just set up. Both are not that active but I have been experimenting longer with my own personal profile at Facebook as well as my personal account on Twitter as well as linkedin.
Also don’t forget to put links to your web site, e-mail address and select social networking sites in the signature of your e-mail as well as online forums you may participate in. Don’t forget to subscribe to this blogs RSS feed and encourage your blog readers to do the same. Here’s to a more connected 2008!

It’s good to take advantage of those free services as far as drawing traffic. I would however suggest a quality of quantity strategy however. It’s better to concentrate on the places that have the audience you are trying to reach. I myself I have signed up for a lot of things just to “save my spot” but we all have only so many hours in a day and it’s better to put our energies into what works. I put most of my energy into this site which is my official business site however as far as social networks I prefer Facebook over Myspace because if it’s cleaner look, reputation and contextual linking within your chosen “network.” I use Twitter to get out short messages or feed updates from this web site, my flickr account, etc. to those who follow me. If you will allow me to “toot my own horn” this web site uses a lot of white space, a professional looking header with our branding and easy to find links as well as a blog we can provide constant updates. If you are interested in a professional site with your unique brand just use the the Contact Us link at the top of this page and we will be in touch. Thanks for reading and leaving a comment and adding to the conversation.
