Equipping your blogging ToolBox

by June 24th, 2007 Patrick Greer

BlogtoolboxWe have been making a big deal about encouraging our customers and potential customers to take advantage of blogging for business and almost all of the site we are setting up for our clients are “blog enabled” but the trick is knowing how to take full advantage of the technology and strategies to make it work. This afternoon I got an post notification on the RSS feed I subscribe to for Drew’s Marketing Minute Blog written by Drew McLellan of the McLellan Marketing Group in Des Moines, Iowa.

The post Drew made is about having a “blogging tool box” or rather a list of links they can explore and use as a resource for how to be a great blogger and use the technology to the max. Drew post some links but below I have a few that I think every blogger or everyone interested in blogging should know about.

Of course, to start off it’s good to have a basic definition and I’ll point you to the Blog Definition Entry on Wikipedia.

Secondly I have a list of books about blogging on my Amazon Affiliate store.

To me a blog or a podcast (which is essentially a blog in audio or video format) is not a real blog or podcast without the use of a technology known as RSS. When you “get” the concept of RSS and how important it is to have as a part of your web site you will know why I am so passionate about the technology. You can read the Wikipedia Entry for RSS but the sound file at One Minute How-to will probably help you “get it” a lot quick.

I encourage you to check out the blog search engine - Technorati for finding other blogs and a place you can publish your blogs presence.

Feedburner which was recently acquired by Google is an excellent tool for managing the syndication of your blog.

Problogger has a great article about how to find new subscribers for your blog.

If you’re really serious about blogging by not just to drive traffic and add new content by making money off of it. I encourage you to check out Yaro Starak’s Blog Mastermind Program at http://www.blogmastermind.com/?home=109 and consider enrolling into his program.
