Do you have more than one type of “business” card?
by October 1st, 2007 Patrick GreerWe see them all the time and exchange them freely, business cards. Have you ever thought of making or getting someone to create a business card for you that is for something other than business? Here are a few ideas you may want to consider;
1.) Organization card - Do you belong to a local networking group, club, etc. but don’t have a creative way of inviting people so they can remember? Consider getting cards made for your group. Often card will speak for you when you are not around and get passed to secondary recipients.
2.) Social Networking Card - Do you want new friends on Twitter, Flickr or Facebook? Those are the ones I use and I’m considering giving cards with that information on them.
3.) Blog Card - Have a blog that you want to drive new traffic to and encourage comments? We have been talking about offering a “Blog and Business Card” package in our business. Would this be of interest to you?
4.) Special Events Photo Card - Did you just get married, have a baby or grandbaby? I was in a class recently and father was passing out “business cards” with his new babies photo and web address. That’s certainly different from the traditional cigar!
5.) Graduate Card - Did you just graduate from high school, college or receive a new certification? Here is a creative way to let people know what you can do. Think of it as a compliment to the resume, not a replacement.
Also consider changing the look on a regular basis, not in style but in content so you can establish a collector’s set! You might be really famous one day and those unique items could be really valuable to people.
I personally would LOVE to receive any one of these above cards. They would help me connect with you in non-business ways yet at the same time that relationship may foster a stronger business relationship that a traditional card ever would. I’d also love to create one of these for you!
