Creative Whacks

by October 30th, 2006 Patrick Greer

I’ve become a frequent reader of the Brains on Fire Blog. Brains on Fire is a national naming and identity company based in Greenville, South Carolina. In some ways they are a competitor as they do a lot of the same work we do in our business but in other respects they have a different niche. In a recent post on their blog entitled, A Whack On The Side Of The Head one of the authors, Jennifer, mentioned several tools told to her by another blogger, as well as other ways to come up with creative ideas outside of our normal mode of thinking. Interesting enough reading blogs of others in the industry is one way I give myself those creative whacks in the head.

Is your company stuck in the same old way of doing things? If so I encourage you to meet and network with other businesses and organizations. This not only it a great way to network and get new business but also a way to see things in a different way and come up with new ideas.

Thanks for the blog-love, Silk-Spinners! And Roger…I have to admit, we cannot put that stinkin’ Ball of Whacks down.

This is a great post, by the way….why are we always SO afraid of watching what the other guys are doing? We should embrace it (but not rely on it). It’s just another tool, right? When I was an actor, I still watched movies and plays, and read books on acting….if only to see what the other guys were doing. Why shouldn’t companies do that? You can bet that your customers are. Be ready to learn, and then be ready to leap. Great post!
