SpinningSilk Multimedia is the multi-tasking company that Patrick and Heather Greer of Greenville started in 2001 as a joint husband and wife venture on a part-time basis. Both had full-time jobs–he worked as a computer specialist and administrative assistant at the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church’s national center in Greenville and she was an elementary school music teacher.However, they had a mutual dream of owning their own business, and began making it happen. Doors began to open and their careers took a new turn. They both left their “day jobs” after much prayer and discussion and started their own company. What began as a “semi-hobby” has developed into a multi-media computer business that combines their individual skills, training and talents. SpinningSilk Multimedia is expanding its services to clients, going beyond their original web design services.

“People that I designed web pages for began asking for other services in other aspects, so we responded,” Patrick said.

Patrick is a graduate of Winthrop University with a mass communications degree. Heather has a music education degree from Furman University, and also studied web design at Greenville Technical College, so their educational and career experiences mesh well in their business ventures. He took computer courses that led to his becoming a Certified Internet Webmaster as well as other computer technology seminars and classes and they both keep current with new technologies.

In addition to their web design and maintenance, they incorporate services for print media design and production, Power Point/Keynote presentations, and other creative/technical services. They network with other professionals as necessary to give their clients top quality services.

Patrick continues to work on and maintain web pages with the ARP Church through contractual arrangements with several of its agencies. He especially gets excited about web design and web site maintenance and trying out new creative ideas for projects.

Heather is involved with SpinningSilk Multimedia as co-owner, programmer and accounts manager. Both are active in several business-service oriented groups. They rely on their Christian faith and prayer to direct their decisions and activities, both professionally and personally.

They focus on services to small business owners and other professionals, non-profit church-related agencies, and contractors for home improvement and building. Heather’s dad is a contractor specializing on building garages. “He was our first paying customer,” Heather said. They agree that working with churches and contractors has a special niche: “They are both builders,” she said.

“We have to keep up with new trends,” Patrick said. “That’s the key–things change. If you let things stay the same, you’re soon out-of-date.”
