FAQs

  1. What is the difference between buying a domain name and buying web hosting space?
A domain name is the name that people can type in the address bar of their browser in order to navigate to your web site once it is set up. This name is pointed at the computer server where your web site actually lives. The space on that server is what you are paying for when you buy web hosting space.
  2. I’ve noticed you offer logo vectorization. What is vectorization?
Vectorization is the process of changing an image from a bitmap (e.g. .gif, .jpg) to a vector image. A vector image (e.g. .svg, .ai) is an image whose dimensions are determined by a set of mathematical instructions. When you try to resize a bitmap, the results are often jagged (pixelated)–not what you want. When you resize a vector image–for billboards or business cards–you will get a high quality result.
  3. What is blogging?
Blog is short for “weblog”. A blog is basically an online journal. People use them to talk about anything and everything. A business blog can be invaluable in keeping your customers up-to-date on news and specials, as well as providing a place for you to share your expertise. Sharing your expertise via a blog generates respect for you in your field and encourages people to come to you when they need your services.
  4. What is podcasting?
Podcasting is like broadcasting (think radio) except that all the shows are uploaded onto the Internet where they can be accessed via subscription. Anyone can create a podcast and upload it to the Internet for people to listen. There is now a wealth of information available (much of it for free) in podcast form. iTunes is a popular way to manage the podcasts you would like to hear. You can listen to them directly on your computer or you can download them onto your iPod.
  5. You set up new e-mail addresses for us. We can receive e-mail but we can send anything out. Why?
This often happens and is beyond our control. Quite a few internet service providers (ISP’s) require you to use their outgoing e-mail server instead of the one we provide by default. Let us know who your ISP is and we will help you set up your e-mail client accordingly.
  6. I see you are making content creation your first priority?  Why Can’t you just set up my web site first and we will work from there?
Our experience has shown us that putting content creation off to the end will draw out our development process longer or we may have sites developed and approved by the customer that are fairly empty content wise. This makes the business look bad, we feel embarrassed and site visitors will more than likely not return after the first time to your site. We believe in developing tools and products that distribute meaningful content, not just a “presence” on the Internet.
